Never in this House

Can I Borrow $25?
A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'
DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.
SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.' The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and
he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door. 'Are you asleep, son?' He asked. 'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy. 'I've been thinking,
maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get
angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. 'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled. Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied. 'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an
hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time s lip through our
fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

Construction

we decided that what we really need to do with the economic stimulus package is to fix the house before it falls down around our ears.

so the facia guy came out today and gave a bid.. the gutter guy came out and gave a bid and are waiting for the drywall guy to come out and give a bid oh and the window guy. he is getting a bid.

so there will be the spring time sound of hammers in the house shortly. I tried to replace the sink downstairs and it is STILL leaking.. which goes to show that I do not know what the heck I am doing and will still have to call the plumber. rats.

14 tons of spilled Oreo cookies snarl Illinois traffic

Associated Press

MORRIS, Ill. -- Got milk?

Police say a trailer loaded with 14 tons of double-stuffed Oreos has overturned, spilling the cookies still in their plastic sleeves into the median and roadway.

Illinois State Police Sgt. Brian Mahoney says the truck's driver was traveling from Chicago to Morris on Interstate 80 around 4 a.m. Monday when he fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into the median.

"The boxes came out of the trailer and boxes were ripped open," he said.

The crash about 50 miles southwest of Chicago remains under investigation.

Mahoney says no charges have been filed but both lanes of traffic remain closed while authorities remove the cookies.

whoremoans..

it all started with a decrease in sex drive, which was strange considering that I am such a young woman of 42 years old. I thought, just Perimenopause. I went to my regular doctor for my annual... she did a pap smear, a EKG, and referred me for a Mammogram and a vaginal ultrasound and they found several chicken egg sized fibroid tumors on my uterus that has caused the intercourse to be painful and that tends to make people decrease the sex drive, if it keeps hurting, DONT repeat is what the body says.

the strange thing is that I do not have long periods, but I do have frequent ones, every two weeks, so I can wait it out, once I am through menopause, the tumors should shrink or I can increase the progesterone levels and hope that the tumors will shrink, or I can have a surgery to try to remove the external tumors (outside of the uterus) or I can have a Hysterectomy and remove the tumors that are growing in the walls of the uterus.

all of which foretell that the next 10 years are not going to be pleasant anyway you slice them.

I have had one progesterone treatment and was so stressed that I made myself ill. my life is extremely hectic right now and I do not feel that taking time out for me is going to be something that I can even contemplate. Dear husband is doing the cooking tonight, while I am sitting here drinking my water.

that being said, I had a dentist appointment for a crown this morning, I got the weeks shopping done, the boys had a chess club end of year award and picnic, followed by swim practice, followed by desperately searching for the library books that are overdue, and the house still looks like an F5 tornado hit.

I did get three loads of laundry done and hung out to dry, my bed made, my bedroom floor vacuumed and a couple more pages done on Erik's Cub Scout Annual Scrapbook. I do however need to google WHITE CHICKEN ENCHILADAS because I am hungry for some. ;)

MIA.. as per usual

6 weeks ago, I was feeling poorly, and scheduled a Doctors visit, well woman exam.

4 weeks ago, I went in and was poked and proded, and they ran an EKG, and a few other more invasive tests.

2 weeks ago, I was really POKED AND PRODED and they ran enough blood work to choke a vampire bat.

yesterday I got most of the results back and now I have to go to yet another doctor with the Diagnosis of Uterine Fibroids. FUN. Not.

I seriously do not have time for this.

Mothers day:

Naps?

okay, so I have psyched myself out of my head and now my body has followed. I am producing enough cortisol to gain 100 lbs.

overall it started with painful intercourse that led to an annual well woman exam, that led to an EKG, an Vaginal UltraSound, a complex series of blood tests and I am still not sure what is going on.

but since cancer is so readily prevalent in my immediate family (1 colon cancer death, three esophageal cancer deaths, and two breast cancer survivors) My head is messing with the rest of my body.

Lately I want to sleep all day when I am not going Mach III and up at 7 am, taking cub scouts on an outdoor community service activity, and then at 10 am going on a cub scout nature hike and teaching about first aid, sun safety, and hydration. then at 1:30 for a birthday party for 6 6 - 8 year olds and mini golf and go carts, then a photo shoot for 15 fifteen year olds and their families, and then my own family (4 adults and 3 kids) out for dinner, after a quick trip to the beauty salon, followed up by email, digital photo proofing, and such. so I push myself so hard that I literally collapse from exhaustion.

I got my shopping done about 11 pm at night after the kids finished up swim practice, and I had a scout meeting, and some laundry, and repairing the fence.

granted I am not insane, this morning, after breakfast and the kids off to school, I did lay down, read a couple of pages of a book, and promptly feel asleep and took a 4 hour nap. I do listen to my body, and I do rest but for the most part, I am still constantly feeling that my heart is racing and that there is no way I can get everything done that needs to be done by the time that it needs to be completed.

take for instance today. I have been copying files over from one computer to the other so that i can get in two portrait orders for clients. then I have to custom design and create and print 42 mothers day cards and get them mailed by 4 pm tomorrow. the boys have chess tournament today, their dad is going to take that as a responsibility, they will miss swim practice today, but that is unavoidable. Personally I am finding that I am getting 7 hours sleep a night, usually plenty for me, but still coping a 4 hour nap a couple times a week, extremely unusual for me.

I had hired someone to help me with work, but she created more work rather than reduced my workload. ;)

okay, enough of the whining, I have to get back to "WORK".

I am still waiting for the test results on the labs.

Sunday.....

G'pa Sherman's birthday...

Set up for the Messiah Lutheran Confirmation Photoshoot and then went to Panera for breakfast, back for the shoot, done in minutes instead of hours, getting really good at this!

Birthday lunch at China Buffet, sorry that g'pa missed it, fortunately for him, it was GROSS..will not go back there again. on the way out my baby toe got caught in the door and sliced it pretty badly. Not a lot of sympathy from the girls, I sopped up the blood with one of Jordan's Diapers. wretched monsters.

they were adamant that I go with them for haircuts and spa day. they did stop at Walmart and get a first aid kit. mighty white of them. they actually wanted me to walk in there and get it myself.
wretched monsters.

after wash, hair cuts and styles, (my treat dontcha know) I went home, and they unloaded the camera equipment and left me in peace.

Dinner was homemade Pizza, courtesy of a very sweet Sverre. and early bedtime.

CUBBIES

8 - 10 - Road Side Trash Pick up... 3 cubbies and three parents to the left, 3 cubbies and three parents to the right. Donuts and peach/orange koolaid to follow.

10 -12 - Den Hike through the woods. Start out with hike essentials: first aid kit, hydration, snack food, compass, whistle, insect repellent, and rain poncho. One parent fell, and we had a real first aid situation. Everyone did well.

1 - 6 - Den birthay party and Mini golf / go carts at Mountasia. that was lots of fun. as a den we talked about what to do if you get lost or separated from adults. too much cake and ice cream, protein bar got me by.

I was so exhausted by the time that I got home that I just wanted to curl up in bed and sleep for a week. I fixed myself a fried egg withe cheese and rolled it up in a french crepe. that was pretty good.

Sweet Tomatoes

After visiting the vampires and giving 8 vials of blood for them to feast on... spent the day puttering around the house, trying to clean and organize. Low motivation lately has kept me from really wanting to keep up with everything.

sent orders in for printing, getting ready for the Cubbie day on Saturday. Picked them up before dinner.

Met up with Jazz, Krys and Jordan at Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Erik and Magnus and Sverre were there as well, it was a BIG table.. heehee 4 adults, 3 kids, $56, seriously not that bad.

Afterwards, we zipped over to REI and got Sleeping bags and airloft bedrolls for the boys for camping. while the sale was okay, we did much better getting last year's models on the bags and that was more inline with the prices that I wanted to pay. $60 for a 10+F sleeping bag is plenty.. I was expecting to pay $100 and really was not looking forward to that. Seriously the bedrolls were more expensive than the bags. but well worth it. looks like we will be out at least 3 times a year or more now with scouts alone. Maybe even more this summer.
